Have you ever had trouble sleeping? Do you grind your teeth? Do your legs jerk and does your breath come in short, shallow gasps? Have you ever been paralyzed on your bed, terrified upon waking, unable to scream in your dreams? Do you sleepwalk?

Thank Ikelos.

Let's say Hypnos and Thanatos, the gods of Sleep and Death, have a little brother: Ikelos. His task is to help Morpheus. How lame is that? How undignified is it to lug around sets and shine spotlights on the stage of a mortal's dreams? He can't even take any credit.

So he becomes the saboteur. Ikelos creeps in to bedchambers when Hypnos has gone and rouses the sleeper by jerking their legs. He whispers to them in the dark, presses on their chests so they can't breathe. He leads their bodies in the waking world somnambulistic hikes and enters their dreams and causes strange desires. He is the inspiration for nightmares.

Eh.

It's all just a little healthy sibling rivalry.
